MODULE 4: PRINCIPLES OF LEARNING DESIGN AND ACTIVE LEARNING

Introduction

The module ā€œPrinciples of Learning Design and Active Learningā€ was an insightful journey where I learned in-depth about the details of instructional design as well as the effectiveness of active learning techniques. This module changed the way I approach teaching and learning. It was a chance for me to delve deeply into the ideas behind the successful learning experiences and investigate various methods like H5P that could help me in making these ideas a reality in the classroom settings.

Use of H5P

It was exciting as well as difficult to try H5P. I was able to test out a variety of interactive content kinds with the help of H5P tools’ flexibility and adaptability. The ease with which the H5P made it possible to create such focused learning resources was evident to me as I worked through the process of making flashcards to distinguish between the proper and common nouns. Incorporating the practical approach to grammar learning, this activity was fun as well as informative. With H5P, learners could instantly comprehend their mistakes and grow from them due to the feature that provided immediate feedback.

Teaching Context Activities

Flashcards as well as fill-in-the-blank exercises are going to be heavily utilized in my teaching settings. Proper and common nouns are among the topics that flashcards are best for teaching since visual clues improve the level of comprehension and retention. Grammar exercises that require people to apply rules in the context are important for improving their language skills. Apart from being instructional aids, these exercises also function as a link between the abstract concepts and the real-world practices.

Activities that require maximum resources to create

I think it would take a lot of resources to make the “Choose the Correct Option” exercise for noun learning activity. A well-planned design that includes a variety of examples as well as settings that faithfully capture each aspect of noun usage is required for this exercise. Creating such content would further require in-depth knowledge of the subject topic as well as the capacity to deliver it in an interesting and intellectual manner. It would also be important to ensure that the activity is in line with the learning objectives and gives students insightful feedback that would require a significant time and creative effort commitment.

Lesson Plan

I have constructed a lesson plan on learning nouns. It will help the learners to focus

Big Idea

We’ll explore the topic of nouns in this lesson, concentrating on proper and common nouns. The main objective is for students to understand the meaning and proper usage of these nouns in the English language. Their verbal development depends on this comprehension, which improves their grammar accuracy and communication abilities.

Learning Outcome(s)

  • Recognise and distinguish between the common and proper nouns.
  • Correct use of common and proper nouns in sentences.
  • Understand how nouns affect the meaning as well as structure of sentences.

Evidence of Learning

Accurate recognition and application of proper and common nouns in a variety of settings will be the evidence of learning in this context. When students are able to use these ideas consistently in both their written and spoken communication, they will have mastered the material.
